Before you get ready to call it a night and get into sleep mode take all of the thoughts and information you have stored in your mind though the day and write them out on a note pad or type them in a word doc or what ever it is you personally like to use to transfer thought to written text. What this will do for you is allow your mind to have peace in knowing you will not lose the important information you want to keep.
It is written down and documented so you can stop worrying about making sure you remember it. It is now out of your mind yet readily available when you need it. Writing and transferring your thoughts also stimulates your brain and opens up the possibilities for new thought and creativity.
